UM Metro Strengthens Global Presence: Student Affairs Head Appointed as International Judge at PTMA Global and Cultural Exposure 2026

Metro, Indonesia — Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro) continues to expand its global engagement through active participation in the PTMA Global and Cultural Exposure 2026, held from April 15 to 18, 2026, in Penang, Malaysia, at Muhammadiyah University of Malaysia (UMAM). The event brought together Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah universities (PTMA) from various countries to promote international collaboration, cultural exchange, and academic excellence.

At this prestigious international forum, Fajri Arif Wibawa, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of Student Affairs at UM Metro, was appointed as a judge in the International Competition. This appointment highlights both his academic credibility and UM Metro’s growing recognition on the global stage.

The program featured a series of dynamic and enriching activities, including a Leadership Workshop aimed at strengthening global leadership competencies, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) that encouraged cross-border academic dialogue, and the International Competition, which showcased innovation and student talent. Participants also took part in a Talent Show celebrating cultural diversity, as well as an International Community Service program that emphasized global social impact.

The Rector of UM Metro, Dr. Nyoto Suseno, M.Si., welcomed this achievement as part of the university’s broader internationalization agenda.

“This recognition reflects our commitment not only to participate in global forums but also to contribute meaningfully. It demonstrates that UM Metro’s academic community is capable of earning trust and competing at the international level,” he stated.

He added that international exposure plays a crucial role in strengthening the university’s reputation and preparing graduates to face global challenges.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Ir. Eva Rolia, S.T., M.T., M.KM., emphasized that involvement in international activities is essential in developing globally competent students.

“Through programs like this, students and university leaders gain valuable experience in intercultural communication, leadership, and collaboration—skills that are essential in today’s interconnected world,” she explained.

UM Metro’s participation in this international event reflects its strong commitment to global engagement, innovation, and academic excellence. The university continues to expand opportunities for its academic community to connect, collaborate, and contribute on the world stage.
