UM Metro Opens Registration for the 2026 Summer Short Course Program for International Students

– Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro) is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the UM Metro Summer Short Course 2026, an international program designed to provide participants with meaningful learning experiences, cultural exchange opportunities, and insights into Indonesian innovations.

Carrying the theme “Explore, Learn, Innovate,” the program will be held from 10–21 August 2026 in Metro City, Lampung Province, Indonesia. Participants will have the opportunity to study the Indonesian language, experience the rich culture of Lampung, explore bio-based agricultural innovations, and participate in various cultural and environmental activities.

About the Program

The UM Metro Summer Short Course 2026 is a short-term educational program that integrates three main areas of focus:

1. Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) for everyday communication.
2. PUMAKAL Agricultural Technology Innovation, one of UM Metro’s flagship innovations.
3. Exploration of Lampung Culture and Local Wisdom through educational visits and cultural activities.

This program aims to provide international students with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Indonesia, appreciate its cultural diversity, and experience the daily life and traditions of the people of Lampung.

Eligibility Requirements

The program is open to:

* International students who are currently enrolled at a higher education institution.
* Applicants who are willing to participate in all scheduled program activities.
* Applicants who are able to communicate in English throughout the program.

Registration Schedule

Registration is open from:

20 May – 30 July 2026

Prospective participants are required to:

1. Complete the registration form.
2. Submit all required documents.
3. Pay the program fee.
4. Send the completed registration form and proof of payment via email to:

Program Timeline

- 20 May – 30 July 2026: Registration and payment period.
- 8–9 August 2026: Arrival of international participants and airport pick-up service.
- 10–21 August 2026: Implementation of the UM Metro Summer Short Course 2026.
- 22 August 2026: Departure of participants to their respective countries.

Program Activities

Throughout the program, participants will engage in a variety of educational and cultural activities, including:

1. UM Metro Campus Introduction
Participants will take part in a campus tour and an orientation session introducing the academic environment of Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro.

2. Indonesian Language Learning
Participants will learn the Indonesian alphabet, phonetics, greetings, self-introduction, and practical communication skills for everyday interactions with local communities.

3. Lampung Cultural Exploration
Activities include Batik and Lampung Tapis workshops, visits to the Lampung Museum, culinary experiences, and hands-on practice in traditional markets.

4. Indonesian Independence Experience
Participants will join the Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony and witness various traditional games and cultural festivities celebrated by local communities.

5. PUMAKAL Bio-Tech Program
Participants will be introduced to UM Metro’s bio-based agricultural innovations through lectures and laboratory practice sessions.

6. Way Kambas Educational Visit
Participants will visit Way Kambas National Park to learn about the conservation of the Sumatran elephant and Indonesia’s rich biodiversity.

7. Closing Ceremony
The program will conclude with a farewell evening, certificate presentation, and a reflection session on participants’ experiences throughout the program.
